When you are fishing, are the Ravas feeding on the surface on the mullet or what ?

you are correct rajiv they prey on mullet and mullets start jumping off the water that time we cast our metal lures and retrieve very fast . I usually fish during the low tide but the ravas are unpredictable sometimes they show up but some times don't

Hi Vishnu,

Thanks for all the info. A really large hearted Mallu angler. Most anglers are very secretive about their favourite spots. Will catch up with you next time in Mahabali's land.

Regards from Yet Another Yello Coloured yamphibian mallu
Cavalier.

Hello Vishnu,

I am most impressed, not only with your fishing but with your generosity
in providing such details of locations.

I hope to someday make a trip to that beautiful part of India.

I noticed that (in the video) the lure was removed from the fish using bare
hands.

This is quite dangerous as a flapping fish can easily drive the hook into the anglers' hand or other body parts.

May I suggest that you carry a plier along with your gear to remove such hooks? you seem to have good equipment otherwise, including gaffs!!

Again, thank you very much and compliments of the Season.

Kingfish

Hey Vishnu,

Great detailed piece of information. Not everyone shares this kind of information. Thanks for that!

I am basically from Kodungallur, settled Chalakudy and now in Dubai. I am planning to have a trip to India in 2011 and would like to the explore the Azhikode side for fishing. Is there any spots you can suggest? Please PM me you contact info so that I can get in touch with you when I am in Kerala. Alternatively we can also try some freshwater fishing in the Chalakudy river if you are interseted. :D

Dynamite is the biggest issue in Chalakudy river... Authorities turn a blind eye on everything.
