Hi Guys,
Have any of you tried the Arkavati after Kanakapura? I have been there a few times and the last time we got fish that tipped the scale over 1 kg. Good day's outing.

a little late in the day to answer this... never tried tried the Arkavati, but have fished on the Shimsha river long back.. there are fish that can tip the scale, but accessing the river is a problem.

Cheers,
Alexis

Hi,

We fished the Arkavati during the monsoon and got some Rohu's in the 1 kg plus size. It would be pointless going there now. The water level would be low, given the level of the Cauvery.
I was told the Power Station at Shimsa does not allow anyone to access the river. The option is to go to Doddamakli and then trek downstream till one reaches the Shimsa at its confluence with the Cauvery. Many years ago I trekked from Bheemeshwari to Doddamakli and back. This required fording the Shimsa and a gillie to guide you. I believe there is good Murrel fishing at the confluence.

Cheers!

Sandeep

Viper, we used to visit Kanva as a day's outing a few years ago, but then with the bad monsoons in the previous years the lake went more or less dry and it was usually under contract. If you do visit the place, let us know.
Cheers,
Alexis

Take lots of worms. Use breadpaste made of bread and over ripe bananas. Fish near the big blue siphons under the banyan tree. Also try the overflow, lots of catfish upto a kilo.

Hi,

I'd forgotten this place existed. Towards the end we only fished the outflow of the dam.... Some good action on light line and small spinners for catfish. The main lake was pretty dull..... If I remember right I caught my last common carp there. Would be interesting to see what's caught if anyone decides to visit.

Mighty Marlin.

Hi,

Haven't been an active contributor to this forum. However, have caught quite a few carps in and around Kolkata - ranging from a few hundred grams to 7.2 KGs. (favourite still being Katla and Mirgel). Will be shifting to Bangalore shortly. Wanted to know of any good location for fishing in Bangalore...

Thanks,
Subha.

how about a list of fishing places around B'lore and between B'lore and Mysore with the contact person for licences; also whether the fish take bait or spinners- this is for people like me who come to B'lore infrequently

I am so excited to see this site exclusively for anglers.

I am creating this topic for all those crazy anglers in Bangalore to join and post their comments and reviews about different places to do fishing in Bangalore.

Guys who have been fishing in and around Bangalore, please suggest some good places for the new ones. Any information is highly appreciated.
