One the way back from our unlucky first fishing trip Martin was showing me all the spots and give me a lot of Info's about the best conditions for each spot. Interesting is that they call spots where they never catched over 20kg "this place only small ones". When we was coming back he offered me to use his trail-bike for the time i`m there. And this was really a great thing, the bike was unbelievable, nothing then the engine and the bike, no key, no turn off, no numberplate. But it not needed a key because it was so high that normally the Indonesians was not tall enough to climb on it, so nobody want to steel it.

So i went out on the first trip with my fishingstuff and a hammock. But no fish wanted to bite and it started raining. It was still amazing standing on the cliffs behind the green jungle in front a rainbow and turtles in the water. But cut not sleep outside and nobody is living there, found shelter for the night in Road Construction camp. The next morning again to the same spot and nothing. On the way back i stopped at one more place and there the game was on. Catched with the popper one Barracuda and lost a couple. But when i switched to the silver spoon it was pure madness every cast a strike. But was difficult to hook the Barracudas proper. I lost many when they was already on the reef in 0,5m deep water, where i was standing. Finally put a 4/0 Treble on the small silver-spoon and then they had no chance. Two times even big Reef sharks coming on the reef in the shallow water lucking after the Cudas on my line, and that just a couple of meters away from me, very nice to see. Finally i got 6 Cudas between 1 and 2,5kg out of the water before i had to leave the reef because of the rising tide. Was not much compared to fish have been already hooked, but still a lot to barbecue :).

So i continued to do go fishing, but it turned out to be not so easy to get the perfect conditions from current, watercolour and tide. And the rainingseason that started one month early that it should was making i not easier. And it was changing quickly one day get fish the next day at the same spot nothing. But that's fishing some days or weeks nothing and then the fish are back!

Especially the weekends was good fun when my friends from bbmac had time to join.
Sadly could not make many pictures of the nice scenery because my camera was taken by the sea.

To tell you a bit about the potential of the remote Indonesia for GT: On the spot i fishing in the pictures a couple of years ago a club member catched a 52kg GT alone from the Rocks! And this spot is easily acessable.

In the end there came together some fish, was not lucky enough to hook a big GT on the rocks but still good fun: 10 Great Barracuda 1-3kg, 4 Giant Trevally 2-4,5kg, 1 Bluefin Trevally 6 kg, 1 Longtom 3,5kg and as exotic surprise 1 Green Jobfish 2kg.

I used Silver-spoons and Poppers, and the Silver-spoon was the best lure on this trip.

Tackle used: No Name Poppingrod for 60 USD, Daiwa Exceller Reel, Powerpro braid 40lb, Nylon Shock Leader 80lb. The leader was attached to the braid with a MID KNOT which i really want to recommend because the knot is running good through the guides which offers the use of long leaders (3-4m).

Hope you enjoy, and stay tuned for part 3!

cheers and tight lines, Markus
