Started as a joint 2 family sunday outing. My colleague, Kelemedi, couldn't make it as he was 'On'- so his wife Khamrul and kids; Sheryl, Sofie and Shane joined us. Cold blustery day, NO ONE got hooked, fell into the water or hit by a stinger.
Had picked up 2 new rods yesterday for Amir and Mehr.
Mehr scored a decent Bream on a no 4 aberdeen hook,4lb line on a diminutive pink rod / reel Uglystik which she chose herself at the tackle shop- -with a very Indian bait of ATTA, turmeric, coconut and vanilla-so much so that the other kids stopped using the fish/squid/prawn/chicken skin(kindly donated by wife!) and went gung ho on Atta-Cauvery mata ki jai ho? Wife is active in the process-makes sure Amir /Mehr get their bait changed and knows how to 'reel reel reel', but insists on shooing away any fish which come to the bait, if she's on the rod. I swear she shooed away a decent ray a couple of weeks ago when it was just the 2 of us fishing on the pier-she has taken over the 'Murral special ' Lefty Kreh TFO 6.6 ft and the Shimano Aero 6000.
A very solid biryani and fish n chips repast after the expedition.
There was a bit of a downside.Being chief 'deckhand', tackle arranger, dehooker and mule, I had carried a rod for myself in the wild hope that i could also fish, but between sorting out tangles and hooking bait and what not,no such luck.I lost the top half of a Shimano baitcaster-am left with the bottom half of the rod and a Rovex baitcaster reel loaded with 15lb braid...
The bream is filleted and awaits in the freezer.
It was so much fun,we will do it again!

That Target Perch (as the name shows in Taraporewala Aquarium or the Hajaam in local language) was my first (and also second) saltwater fish. Caught it on a large hook with aata only on its tip, tied to a nylon dori (not even a fishing line). The hook safely passed from the mouth to the gills without puncturing. It came off hook easily and I released it. The second time I took it home and put it in my aquarium and added jaada namak to match the saltwater density (had an old hydrometer which I had bought to make wine at home). It survived successfully for 2 months until I went out of station and my bro overfed it to the extent that the water was almost opaque. It never fed on fish feed at home. Only ate tiny aata balls greedily.

Wah doc way to go. Glad to see the kids have taken to the outdoors. Now you will always have company for fishing. Mehr's smile says it all. :-)
