Would someone be kind enough to answer?

Does anyone know, has anyone ever used surface fishing for the Grass carp on Wassi lake? Is it a method used in India much?

It involves a greased line, a floating candle, a bolt-rig set up that sits on the surface with a bouyant bait.

Very successfull method for the initiated here in England.

Cheers

You would be the first to try it at these lakes and if it works let me know "I'll come running".

A little background about the currents in the lake and where the grass carp are. Ask Raju the guide he will pinpoint the grass carp.

At this time of year, the water in the channel is at its lowest with the weeds just tipping the water level, and the grass carp are in the channel half way down, which makes it difficult to reach them even with a very long cast.
Midway down the middle of the channel there is a small breaker built from rocks that are submerged and not visible, which causes the water to hit the breaker and turn left. The swing left causes the water in the lake to take a circular path around the lake and back to where it started.

Watch when trying to cast from the channel, too long a cast into the channel and you will snag up in the breaker.

The grass carp are just beyond the breaker, and i have counted close to a dozen big ones feeding together near the weeds.
They dont seem to touch anything else.
Let me know if you have any luck, as this is a challange for us guys.
Regards
Owen

I've seen Steve catch a fish on a floating bait. I'm pretty sure he'll manage a grass carp on this trip. Here's one he caught while we were fishing seven years ago in malvalli!

I think it was rusk (bread biscuit). I don't remember exactly what it was since it was many years ago. Steve will probably answer it once he's online again.

Hey Bobbee

I'm in for the meeting at Lalbagh on any weekday morning. Won't be able to make it for the GTG though.
