Hi guys and gals (I am assuming that there might be some in IA?)
Just moved into a flat in Mumbai (from UK) - I am interested in taking up my favorite hobby whilst in India - CARP FISHING - any help out there regarding some good areas / spots?

Hi there,

Welcome to the forum mate. The place where you can catch some good carp in Mumbai is Powai lake.

Regards,

Ali :P

Welcome to Mumbai David.

Powai has the potential to be a world class fishery and holds some monster carp. They are about the shyest you'll come across and crabs gobies and mangur will have your bait before a Catla would ever get a chance. Only a masochist or a pathologically deluded optimist would ever fish there - so if you fit the description, welcome to the gang

Seriously, Ali has done a lot of trailblazing at Powai and it would be a pleasure to show you what little we have learned and pump you for some tips from the UK. PM me and I'll see if I can set up a session.

tight lines
Allan

To all of you guys out there who have dropped me a line - it is a pleasure to converse with you - clearly I would be very interested in meeting up and exploring Powai with the "gang". I am off to Raipur tomorrow on business but back over the weekend. I do not have my carp rods with me - they are still in UK - is there anywhere local where I can purchase some? Speak to you soon and hopefully meet up by the water!!
