Went for a 4 day fishing trip to Malvan last week stayed at this beautiful hotel on the Karli river where the food was as sweet as the people there just fell in love with this place, Fished a lot on the river and caught a few Jacks and one single Grouper, trolled around the islands but was not lucky just one big hit had set a heavy drag and still that bugger kept the reel screaming for 5 mins finally the 50lbs braid was cut on the rocks, on the last day before I left I trolled again in the Evening and after 2 hrs of trolling and puking inspite of all the avomine, I got a big hit on my Rapala-Magnum firetiger this guy really got the reel screaming and went into the rocks I stood there in the rocking boat waiting for him to come out by twitching the line and irritating him he finally came out and went for another run after that he gave up and I got him to the boat the entire fight lasted for 20 mins when the fish was coming to the boat I was expecting something huge but I was shocked to see this 5 kg fish man did that fish have power but I still don't know which was this fish guys please help me out with this, but overall even though I did not catch a lot of fish this experience was truly amazing and will surely return again after the rains when the fishing will be much better just as the locals told me.

Also a Big THANKS to Santosh for recommending the right Hotel, right People and the right Spots, Thanks again Buddy....

congrats mate, :D
thats an awesome fish ! man I'd love to catch that fatso. although I caught hundreds of them mostly in the range of 1-2kg, as santosh rightly said it is the blubberlip snapper or Kumbharu -local name in konkan
Great pictures Dilip especially the one which has upma, sheera, toasts and coffee very tempting

Sorry Dilip, I had not read your message correctly when I made the post but after I did I took it off, did not realize you had read it in the interim. I am like a zombie, have had 4 very late nights drinking sessions in a row, so much that I have to resign to drinking gallons of Perrier afer 2:00 and have to go out again tonight, my clients are all in town and I have to entertain.

I will be going to Singapore and Indonesia next week or the following week I should find those lures there there ask Glen to message me with what he wants. I need to pick up a couple of spinning rods, my son broke his real expensive Japenese handcrafted rod a couple of weeks ago, belive me, when running the line through the guides. The tip just snapped off, never seen anything like it. The rod cost a small fortune. Consolation prize he landed a small cuda.

Man those Custom Japanese rods cost a bomb especially those deadly popping and jigging rods, I have forwarded your msg. to Glen by the way when you coming to India,

Hi Raj,

It would be nice to introduce yourself in the introduction section of the forum and I can tell you that you would get much more information than you actually needed.

Cheers,

Hello Dilip,

I shall be grateful if you could also advise me of this place and the hotel via
pm - it is a dream location for someone based overseas (Australia) when
visiting home for fishing.

Kind regards,

Kingfish

Piece of advice mate, info like that is not given easily, sometimes, even not to those who say "please" and "thank you". And especially not to someone who's very first post is "Who?" and "Where?" without even doing us the courtesy an introduction.
