Hi All,

Just came back from ooty and found Indian Angler is best Guide to check before going any Angling location.

So story start from getting a license. I went to Fisheries department (OLD big building next to BUS stand) to get the fishing license and found following
Way will be faster:

[1] Do not ask any gents there as they are greedy
[2] Directly go to inside the office and talk to Middle age lady
[3] Per day on Kamraj Sagar DAM and paykara Lake fees is Rs. 16
[4] Currently only CARP is allowed
[5] I am uploading my license as I don't know TAMIL, can somebody will translate to ENGLISH.

So I equipped with Trout Gear and found only CARP is allowed, got only small fishes and I kept it back.

Local people suggested going to Avalanche for Trout, but I have not taken that advice as Avalanche is very secure Forest area.

I will read how DO I catch CARP?

The info in English.

Tamilnadu Fisheries Dept ,Nilgiris Dist

Carp fishing license
One day
Rs 10/- only
Pykara dam

This license also valid for Ooty lake, Maravakandi dam ( Masinagudi), Sandy Nalla dam, Sandy Nalla stream, Moyar river , Pykara river, Bhavani river which is inside Nilgiris district etc.

If the fishing is banned for some reason then you should not do fishing even if you have a valid licence .( may be you get a license for a month, but the 2 nd week was banned like)

You have to use a single rod, line ,hook only and not multiples allowed.Otherwise you have to get multiple licence.
Evening 7.30 to morning 6.00 am you should not do the fishing .
Fishing is not allowed 30 meter closer to the dam wall.

If the fish is lesser than 35 cm, you have to release it.

If needed Fisheries dept or police dept or revenue dept or forest dept can ask you to show the license.

There was somany other things and hope this is sufficient for you.
