Hi..
I have been staying in Udupi for almost a year now. I have noticed this thing that within the strip from Kundapura to Mangalore, many rivers meet the sea..
Will this place be good for fishing?? beacuse as far as seen, the water here is shallow.. And i seriously don't know anything about fishes, if they are found in delta.. :(

Thanks..
Salman

This should be, where ever a river meets the sea, fishing in and around the place should be good.

Note: Please make an attempt to post to the correct section, this one should have been made to fishing locations.

Sorry Bobby, I'll make sure that next time i post it in the correct place.
Just was confused, coz delta is where the river meets the sea..!! so thought of posting it in coarse fishing section..

This is a venue that Scott and I were looking at after studying some satalite photo's. It looks very, very fishy with several large areas of flooded mangrove forest inland. Personally, I would be looking to either baitfish it with a running ledger type rig (a paternoster isn't great for rays and sandsharks) or adopt the usual night lure chucking tactics at the river mouth.

Any information that you can PM either of us about local accomodation would be greatfully recieved.

Hi Ken

bought the shimano teramar SE 15-30 spinning rod instead of the savage gear boner coz all tackle shops in the uk aren't keen on shipping to India. Hope you remember all the frantic PMs about the SG Boner, haha.

anyway, just spoke to Salman and barring an act of God or nature will be there last week of December. planning to take a penn 7' travel 3 PC 12-20 and a daiwa emblem 11' 15-30 surf rod, reels will be daiwa coastal 4000 and daiwa saltist 4500 spinning.

would appreciate any scraps of advice on rigs, tackle, bait, lures, night fishing, locations, the full monty in fact.

promise to send back a full report.

Cheers
Pandim

they are not from the kundapura area, but these are of kaup beach, on the way to mangalore, approx 27 km from Udupi. I have never been for shore fishing, so i really don't know much about the locations and all.. :?
