Greetings from Koseri Kamp!

In memoriam of Mr. Abhik Gupta, a fellow angling guru & dear friend, we are pleased to announce the dates and location of an angling meet to be held in his honor, the details of which are given below.

Dates: 27th to 29th November

Location: Koseri Kamp (Across the dam, opposite Bhakra Pattan (ferry service))

Cost: Rs. 300/- per head. Cost includes all meals for 2 nights/3 days. BYOB please! Ice will be provided at no extra charge. Pay by Cheque/Cash/Card (Paypal)

Accommodation Arrangements: We have limited logistical support. Please carry a sleeping bag for yourself. Rooms will have to be shared with fellow anglers. Unfortunately we do not have the luxury of providing individual rooms. Each room can accommodate a maximum of 4 anglers. We have ample space for pitching tents, carry your tents along with BYOB! There is NO CHARGE on the accommodation at Koseri Kamp. Alternate accommodation is at the flea bag Punjab Tourism Motel in Nangal, 15 km away.

Boats: You are welcome to carry your own canoe/kayak. Local country boats are available. 2 anglers per boat. Cost of diesel powered country boat is approximately Rs. 450/- per day, payable directly to the boatwala.

Getting There: Over night train from Delhi to Nangal (Himachal Express). EDT Delhi is 23:20 ETA Nangal 07:00 hrs. Cab from Nangal to Koseri Kamp is approx. Rs. 275/-.
Route Map: Delhi-Chandigarh-Ropar-Nangal (Collect permit to cross the dam)-Bhakra Dam (Western Bank)- Koseri Kamp (1 k.m. down the road from the dam).

If you are driving, then you need to come via Nangal. The permits to cross the dam are available at the PRO office in Nangal. You’ll need to tell them you have to go to Paroinya Village. PRO office hours are 08:00 to 15:00 hrs.

Entry to the meet is on a first come first serve basis. Pls. PM to register.

Confirmed so far:

1) Mahseer Ken
2) Kapil Chandok

If you have questions, concerns please feel free to PM me.

Cheers,
IG

PS: IG what you think about fishing conditions around mid-December at Bhakra? Can one expect a decent size mahseer at that time of the year?

Kanwar!

Check a thread tittled Winter mahseer. Fishing is good as long as you get the right depth and more importantly if the fish are biting.

Good,

The freshwater meet is long overdue.

Wish I could also join but the saltwater meet is also in November.

Just one suggestion, as this is a meet organized through IA forum, the name should be changed. You can name it Abhik Gupta Memorial IA meet. Ask the water god if he has any suggestions.

Regards,

Ali. :P

Hi Ali Bhai,

Many an angler in the Delhi region knew Abhik Gupta or Dada as he was known and all most all of the are registered on IA. Dada spent all his time on the water and not on the net, therefore he never registered on IA, though I'm sure he would if he ever sat down in front of a pc!

Check out this thread while you are at it...

Dear IG,

I have heard about Dada and I respect him as an acomplish angler. I do not have any objection that this meet be named after him. My only point as you can see from my post was that add IA name.

If this meet is organised a bit later, I too would like to join you guys.

Regards,

Ali..

Hi Dhruv,

Thanks for the gestures. If the meet was atleast two months after the mumbai meet, I would have definitely met up with you guys. If I attend the meet, I will have to stay away from my wife for atleast 6-12 months as mandatory divorce procedures. And later who wants to pay alimony when the same amount can be used on fishing trips.

Cheers,
Apoo

Apoo!

I am sold on your alimony argument. Yup! Why pay it when you can spend it on fishing.
