Fellow Anglers

I am a South African, and fishing runs in my blood. I have been living in Delhi for almost 4 years and only twice caught fish in India (on a trip to Ramganga in Corbett and then again in Goa). You will agree that these are far off places and cannot be frequented.

Any good fishing spots in and around Delhi?

And where in India can on catch bream/tilapia?

Hi Jake,

Welcome to IA. Join PHG and you will be able to fish around Delhi a lot. Mahseerken will help you to get familiar with PHG.

What say Ken?

Cheers,
Apoo

Hi Jardenio,

Sometimes ignorance is bliss :-)

PHG - "Pump House Gang" are a bunch of Delhi based anglers led by Kenneth AKA Mahseerken. They are a bunch of great guys, very friendly and fish at the "Pump House" for Murrel, Carp etc.

I am sure they will rope you in, qualifications are pretty simple I am told, as long as you can fish a bit and drink a lot you qualify

Don't get me wrong these guys are serious anglers who know their stuff, they also know some places that hold real gold, but getting them to spill the beans will take some time and trust. All the best mate.

Bobby

Just to get things clear. i do not lead anybody. Actually nobody or nothing can lead this bunch. We just wander around aimlessly looking for another fishing hole.

Jardenio,

I'll get in touch with you before our next little trip. That could be this weekend as it is a long one.

cheers

May I suggest you PM your contact number to any of the PHG, don't post it on the site, as posting personal information on the site is not allowed.

Thanks again...will make contact...Must admit that as soon as I read Tilyar Lake I went out and discovered it...This was last week....Looks promising but water was very brown....Perhaps like the PHG states from Sep/Oct onwards the fishing there will be worthwile.....

I have saved the numbers and will make contact...

Note that our Ramadaan month (Fasting) starts on Saturday, therefore I will be out of action until the end or Mid September.....but trust me that I will be hounding the PHG...In the meanwhile I will stock up on tackle at Lodhi Sports.....

A bad day out fishing is better then a good day at the office!!!!

Thanks again....PHG!

From a PHG-ian, just up for a lovely breath after 3 murky months.
welcome and dont overdo it at lodhi sport...a 10kg rods/reel and good hooks. If you can look at cabelas or our own Bopanna for basic requisites, should be enough.
MK, saw a 100lb you-know-what daybefore at our marina breakwater-ofcourse I came back fishless, but it was a great 2 hrs

DOC!!

Good to see you on IA after a long time.

BTW Jardineo fishes in SA for Tiger fish. A fish that goes up to 2 mtrs in length and 50 kg. Chould compare pretty well with Mahseer????

Cheers!!

Where did you see the tilapias being caught? I need to get some light fishing going for a while. The dam casting has thrown my shoulder.
