Hi Arun,
We did not catch any mate.. If i would have caught one, the first thing i would do is post in IA.. We went to the store of tackle direct, it was great..We saw some of the most expensive reels - Van Staal, Zeebaas, Stella . Got a light spinning rod and reel and some lures jigs and metals then we headed to a bay.. The place looked promising, but i could not fish consistently because i did not have a waders.. The water was freezing, and i could not stand more than 5 mins in water.. So after a couple of casts i would run back to shore, then head back to cast.. Think there were no fishes, would be going next month again for stripers and this time i would take Maruthu's advice on getting a Waders..
I got my freshwater fishing license and have a small creek near my house, would go there this week.. It has got some small mouth bass, common carps, blue catfish and Sauger..
But things other than fishing were great

Regards,
Binu

No Mate, I am good. Right Ali..?? :D

I was using 40 lb Fluoro leader, Abby was using wire, and Ali, Rajat & Mr. Arun were using 100 lb mono leader.

For me, all fish came on one lure. (I have caught more than 40 fish on this lure, plan to retire it).

Thanks for the response.
If I were you, then I would retire that lure and buy a dozen of them.

BTW, what lure was that. And have you had any success with the same lure, fishing from the rocks/shore?

Cheers,
Maruthu

Hi Maruthu,

Sorry for the delay. Have become a bit lazy these days. Found one old pic. of my tackle room and the lure is marked with a circle (it was new then & looks a lot different now  ).
Regards,
Santosh

Hi Arun,
Awesome report and spectacular pictures... I am 2 days old on the forum and asking this in all earnest.. while I've read some of the trip reports I have not seen any mention of the waters that the fab fishes were caught in. Is that information treasured and as such not displyed on a public forum? I would really like to know where - around Mumbai - you guys go to catch the biggies. Any advice would be great! I am heading to Alibaug soon and would like to try my hand on the shore line there. Could any of you guys advise me as to what in terms of gear I should carry - especially what kind or size of hooks and baits.. Also if any of you pros are looking for an apprentice to lug your stuff around on your next trip do let me know  would really like to learn to land fish like those!!

Thanks much!
Jd

Dear JD,

I was too a newcomer to fishing when I joined this wonderful forum. I very well understand your eagerness.

Yes now you will be very anxious .. suggest you contact Dr. Ali for your anxiety problem  . He is the one who cured me when I was suffering.

I can suggest you some fishing spots close to Alibaug, but its windy to spin from the rocks & not at all safe.

Try beach fishing with bait this time.

You can also join us at Powai to get you started.

Santosh

Hi, JD,

Welcome to the Forum. Thanks for your compliments. Yes, there are many spots around Alibaug, but presently the climate is Windy as Santosh mentioned. Try Surf casting.

What Fishing Tackle do you have?

Regards,

Arun

The best way to catch fish around the Konkan now is with fresh bait. The water will be far too dirty to use lures. Fish will need to smell and feel for their food.
