Thank you Riaz Bhai for your tips and hooks!
After about 5 trips to Manchanbelle, even a nightout with Riaz Bhai, Aaron and his dad, the big carp was completely eluding me.
Not that I was coming home empty handed, but all my friend Rajesh and myself could catch were too small to talk about and only fit for the evening snack
Yesterday it finally happened, on my 6th trip to the amazing carp country! After ground baiting a completely new spot, with bread crums mixed with desi ghee and a little bit of beer (strong), we started our session at 9.00am.
By 11:00, the fish had started jumping around but the ones that came on my hooks were the same small size that I had been seeing in the past. Kept the first one for luck and released the second.
12.30 onwards it started raining, first a drizzle, and then a downpour.
After the rain stopped, the chances looked brighter and the jumping of the large ones resumed.
At around 4:00 pm, one of my lines got snagged and I was trying to pull it out, when I saw my other rod tipping towards the water. Ran to start reeling in and realised that this one was a much bigger one, which fought and then on nearing the surface even started jumping.
Rajesh helped to net it and we finally screamed in excitement of getting the elusive BIG carp, this one a 2kg one. Really a beauty!
