I know the atmosphere may be a bit carnival here with all the boys meeting up, but save the drinks for when you guys are back at the “Meet Up Place” to discuss what happened after a good days fishing. Maybe enforcing a "no-drinking" rule/policy while fishing would not be a bad idea for this tournament/meet.

No drinking and fishing, walking on these rocks is not easy. (we have enough time on the 8th evening)
Members will only be allowed on the rocks if they are wearing proper footwear (please get a pair of Bata Dolby).

Hey Santosh,

We spoke today on the phone about the pick up point for the bus.

The best pick up point for me would be Sahara Star Signal on the Western Express highway, Vile-Parle East.

We are back from the first Indian Angler Sea fishing competition. It was blast with teams from Mumbai & Pune landing up in Harihareshwar & churning up the ocean with their tackle. The un- official results are as under

• Biggest Catch : Neil ( Heliox) Barramundi approx 3.5 lbs.

• Maximum number of fishes caught : Abhijeet ,2 No's : mangrove Jacks.

• Maximum cumulative weight of fishes caught. : Abhijeet.

Three cheers to the winners. Dont worry, we toasted their success in a proper way with imported, IMFL & local toddy.

Regards
Cavalier

Guess More pictures will be posted tomorrow since everyone is recovering from the Hazardous but exciting trek to the "HEAD".The location was ideal and just captivating but unfortunately nothing big was landed. The Food was awesome and it was just fantastic meeting buddies for the first time.I hope we can continue having events like this with more participants. The Indian angler banner was unfurled and guess the picts will be on this site soon. The Evening was spent with fishy tales and Abby sang a Kishore Kumar song.Along with the Monofilament, braid and fireline..........Firewater was used very sparingly to lubricate the tired and weary Anglers joints.End of the day we all returned to our homes safe and sound with memories and new friends.Special thanks to our international participants representing there countries...Alan from Scotland,Nils from Germany and Scott from England(he caught the first MJ)and our Russian Comrade from Aeroflot( Apoligises mate my memory for names).Anindya made a spectacular dash from Mumbai on his Scooty with his friend and spent the nite out in a tent overlooking Ganesh gali(Sorry for the scream when i lost the barra at 2300 hrs).Once again thanking all TIGHT LINES BUDDIES

And I thought that it was the individual performance ....anyone remember COMPETITION ???

Anyway, Rajat aka Partner, I dont care if its one report or one hundred reports...its info that we want, the more reports, the more pics, in bits & parts helps me paint a vivid pic in my mind of all the fun you guys were having......

Btw, I'm still wondering who tipped of the fish that the mumbai leg of IA was coming there for a competition.....guess they all buggered off well in advance. Next time, plan only 1 or 2 days in advance...this way the fish wont be able to get too far away

Hi Rajat Dada,

The line about the Pune team was purely in jest. :D :D .( Withdrawn)We are a family & one team. As 100% amateurs , we are really grateful for the extremely whole hearted support & guidance given by the "GURU's" of angling. Both self & son Vicky came away with an invaluable education.Hope we have more sessions soon .

Sorry guys for the delay..

To start with many thanks to every one for making the first ever salt water angling competition in India a Grand success.

And as correctly pointed out by Bobby, catching fish was secondary with everyone sharing their tackle, tactics and even their lucky lures.

Also special thanks to Abhi, Vishal, Tato, Rajat & Bablu bhai for the support in organizing the trip.

I am glad to key down few words as the trip report as Ali’s internet connection is down. (although the trip started from 8th Morning, the fun started from the day before)

7th Evening: Every one calling each other to make sure that nothing goes wrong with the morning pick up. I got a call from Veer, “ Santosh, I am sooo excited, don’t know what to do” [smilie=boggl3y3dummy-ani.gif] I told him to have a couple of drinks & go to bed  , I guess he misunderstood my advice, had a dozen of drinks and went to bed.

8th Morning: 3.30 Am, Rajat calls up “ Partner, Bus kidar hai?” :? The bus driver got confused with the address and parked the bus opposite In orbit mall instead of Mega mall which is close to Ali’s house. (Cant blame him with so many malls opening in every lane of Mumbai).

Fortunately, the driver was reached on his cell phone and the bus started from Mega mall at 4.10 Am without Veer who was probably having sweet dreams of fighting a trophy fish.

With all pickup’s done on time and with some quick pictures out side my house, we got a call from Veer that he could not wakeup on time. We gave him the directions to come by state transport, which he did.

We reached Harihareshwar at 10.30 Am with Pune gang reaching few minutes before us.

We checked in our rooms, got the tackle ready and by 11.00 Am all were on the rocks for the first session, the water was clear, calm and the weather not too bad, Scots & Nils both caught decent MJ’s in the first session [smilie=coolup.gif] while Ali lost one. :(

We got back to our hotel by 1.30 pm, few quick drinks followed by wonderful lunch of malwani chicken & fish fry. :D :D [smilie=evil-sexor-lick.gif]

8th Evening Session: We started our fishing at 4.00 Pm and the session ended at 7.00 Pm with Mr. Arun & Abhi (spoonangler) landing one MJ each. Sanjay got one small Grouper on bait & Wajim landed two puffer fish.

Abhi lost one fish which cut his line on the rocks & Bablu bhai lost two big fish. The second one gave him a 30 to 40 yards run before throwing the hooks.

We all got back to the hotel by 7.30 PM. It was a crazy evening with whisky, rum, vodka, beer scotch flowing like Kaveri rapids, [smilie=party.gif] Abhi singing a nice song, Tato entertaining us with his sexy chaddi [smilie=sillyjester.gif] , fish that got away stories and Veer & rajats bong love [smilie=huggles.gif] . Priceless moments indeed :D :D

9th Morning: We split up the group, and went fishing at different location just to have more options.

The 9th morning session produced Neil’s Barra , Vishal & Abhi both caught one M’J each with Tato & I losing fish.

Total fish caught:
MJ: 6
Grouper:1
Barra: 1
Puffer fish: 2

Participants: Santosh, Ali, Vishal, Abhi, Tat’s, Bablu Bhai, Alan (UK), Veer, Vajim (Rus), Scott(UK), Neil, Pratap, Vicky, Nils (UK), Rajat, Sanjay, Saydul, Mr. Arun.

We all missed M’Ken, Fred, & Yaj.

Winner: Abhi for number of fish caught & Neil for biggest fish & every one else for the wonderful time we had.. [smilie=gt-happyup.gif]

Thanks to all once again for the wonderful company & sportsmanship and I sincerely hope that we can have such a meet once again. :D :D

I am waiting for some pictures to reach me, and will post them ASAP.

Regards,

Santosh
