Hello everybody!!!
Has any one any experience to share of fishing in or near Srinagar. I was just surfing the net and found out that it is considered to be a paradise for mountain trout fishing in the world.... Any comments on places, specific joints, etc. I am planning to go to Srinagar around sept. end.
Thnx...

Sorry for the belated response.
I was lucky and went fishing in Kashmir in May 2008, before the trouble started. The good beats were on the ARU river, outside Pahalgam. Local agents can arrange fishing permits and only FLY rods allowed in Kashmir now. caught some trout below Pahalgam also, on the Lidder river and fortunately the River Rafting above the fishing area was not a disturbance.
Fishing is also good near Verinag but too close to the road and habitation.

Vijay

Thnx Vijay for the info... good you told me that only fly fishing is allowed. Will take care of that when I go there.
