Nice to be catching some decent fish during the rainy season, both from Manchenbelle and Wasi lakes. The dam produced a 7 kg and a 2.5 kg Rohu between heavy showers one evening. We also had some nice rohu and what i think is a Kali Bose of 13Kgs that towed the coracle around Forbes.
Can one you guys confirm that it is a KaliBose ?

The blighters were out fishing last week for three days. Half a day coming back on Sunday, then, off again on Monday, came back now off fishing on Saturday.
Looks like Owen found himself a `mermaid`  . That`s why he is doing hand stands.

Owen, Riaz, since you've more or less figured out Manchinbele why not try the same tactics in the KRS reservoir? Good chances of landing a monster mahseer, not to mention huge catla and rohu!

Going anywhere near the main dam wall is not allowed but there are other locations which are accessible. You can try this location on the map, just off the Mysore-->KR Nagar road , click on the link below.

http://www.wikimapia.org/#lat=12.420504 ... =0&m=a&v=2

In this location the narrow channel in between the shore and the blue lagoon island looks like a nice place to try ground baiting.

Good luck.

Bops

Great going guys.

Thanks again guys!
The Khalbose was 13 Kgs, i have had quite a few around the 3 Kg mark, but never one of this size.
It was hilarious. I saw this fish with its tail up feeding near the weeds and cast a small ragi ball into the middle of the weeds and left it there for about 30 minutes. Did not feel a bite, even though the rod was in my hands, and i was feeling for bites with the line in my hand. It started getting dark, and i decided to recast. I tried pulling in the line, but found it pulling back. For a while i thought i was stuck in the weeds as the pull back was kind of a springy action. After the third pull back which was getting heavier i knew i was onto something. Never realised it was that big till i got it out of the weeds and into the channel. It towed the coracle into the middle of the lake, and did a couple of circles.
By this time it was dark, and Bunty who was in the coracle with me let out a few yawns and wanted to know how long this would take.
I used a 10 ft fast action spinning rod of 40 to 80gm cast weight coupled to a Ambassedur 5500C reel, loaded with 15lb mono.
The ragi was laced with hing as usual.
Cheers
Owen
