Braved the harsh winter for an over nite trip to Head Rasul and it paid of well. We were up against the cold of the nite and the nite temp was only -2 C.

The gulfam ( Common Carp) were hungry and active as ever. Caught 8 big ones in total.

1 Rahu 3.5 Kgs and 7 Gulfam between the 4 & 5 Kg Mark. The gulfam were caught on Roti and Chemical and the rahu on chemical.

Well done Shapan. Must have been freezing out there.
How deep is the water out there ? Do you need to ground bait ?
I counted 10 rods, must have been an army with you

Thanx Owen, :-)

Yes it was freezing out there. The water is 20 feet plus......

We were four people in all..... 4 rods per person and we ground baited the area when we reached there early in the morning the first day

Thanx every1.

Yup Mk one needs to have the nuttier element to brave the -2 C temp.

As fas as the chemcical is concerned sorry for causing any confusion its the local name for a sweetened bait used by local anglers. We have person in our group Mr. Malik Naseem hes the aged fellow in the pixs ( 75 Years) whos the expert at making these sweet baits.

The recipe may vary depending on the enviornment. Rice, sweet smelling herbs, sweetners and what ever you feel like. Its our learning that carp go for sweet bait and usually big fish go for such bait and plus it lasts a fair time in the water.

In the winters the worm fishing element dies down

Great trip Shaphan. (where was I [smilie=mad.gif] ).
Secondly I think we should stop using this word 'chemical' for the sweet baits. It causes more of confusion and every time an explaination is to be offered (recall my comments on PGFA). Lets give another name to this bait. Any suggestions. Just to apprise others who dont know, these baits sometimes smell so good that one like to eat it himself. They contain stuff like gulkand, honey, vanila, certain sharbats like Roh Afza etc

thanks sualeh and shaphan
for explaning the contents of THE CHEMICAL....
i wanted to know how effective is CHEESE with AATA when doing float fishing.......
one more thing i realized that when cheese is kept in refregrator it dosent smell so bad
but when its kept outside for a couple of days then there is nothing compared to the smell of rotten cheese!!!!!!!!!!!!
how effective it will be???????????
please give ur comments....
regards
hozefa.

cheese is quite an effective bait and you got it bang on - rotting cheese is even better. if you dont wish to rott your cheese then you can also use strong and pungent cheeses. cheese is quite often used here in the UK.
good luck.

Hi Huzaifa
Cheese is a proven good bait but somehow carps in Pakistan like the sweet baits and atta baits more. Probably they have been edicted to these baits as every second person is using the same bait.
