Cheers,
Madhur.

PS. did you catch the Barra on Bait?

That Blue fish is a Queen Triggerfish, there are a lot of them in and around Goa.

Hey Bobby, thanks man. Surprisingly never seen them in the Panjim or Mapuca markets.. Guess they don't make good table fish.. But they look simply awesome, will be on a lookout when I hit Goa next time.

Regards,
Madhur.

Hi Santosh,

Lovely fish. Nice to see some decent fish like that. The unstopable happened while trolling or from the beach?.Can you describe the take , run and fight ?

Madhur, I caught the MJ's on Halco Sorcerer 150 R1 / H53 and the Barras on Rapala red head 7 (I have caught all my barras till date on this lure).

Jeen, the big fish hooked was 100 % a grouper. The tackle used was penn mariner one pice 7 ft boat rod / reel was okuma salina SA80 with 100 lb fire line... I got the hit on Rapala x rap 30 Ft deep diver.

the hit can be described as violent (I keep my drag fairly tight), the fish took about 30 - 40 mts of line in the first run .. while I was gaining some line, there were more short runs of 10 - 15 mts .. this happened for next 5 to 7 mins. There were no further runs & neither I could gain any line, obviously the fish had found a nice hole or rock. At this time, with out any success I let the line lose for about 5 mins, .. called up Fred & he suggested to keep the line tight & ping it (like a guitar).. what I also did was to circle the rock and tried to yank the fish out on full drag and with all my might.. this continued for next 15 - 20 mins.. and by now I was sweating, very tired and losing my patience... the fish moved and took one more run from almost right down below the boat (with full drag the rod was bend in U and the tip a good half a feet in water). The fish was now out of the rock & I was trying to pull it vertically .. the waters quite deep at this place (20 mt).. I was pulling up the fish by 7 -8 fts but it kept going down again... For the last time I gave all I could & pulled the fish up by .. this time the giant took a last strong run on the right side & broke the line. I was happy with the fight & was left with blue marks on my waist & big mark on my right arm which looks like a muscle tear...

The Boat guy said after the fight " Pannas kilo chi masalli hoti"

Santosh

Tats the trip was more to register my house in Kankavali which went f9,i did go down to Tarkarli but the family just couldnt cope up with the heat and where already showing signs of heat exhaustion,so i went down to Ganpatipule and called Santosh and he gave me some clue, but no fish guess i was just trippin on da cold chilled beer. Its time for me to go back to work and i have thrown some plugs ,lines and hopefully find time to fish.Santosh hopefully in november ill be diving in the malvan area and maybe get a good picture wats down there, i pressume there is a lot of ship wrecks and maybe some caves.ill be carrying my spear gun looking for tat big grouper tat got away..........

Congratulation Santosh,
You once again did it. You know, your passion for angling and your stamina is something amazing. I wish I could join you for the next trip but I am tied up with my hand as my hand is tied up in a string.  .
Keep doing it man...

Regards,

Ali.
