Jude, Max and i made an early start and were out of the city before first light. We were tackled up and on the water by 9 am and into my first Rohu of 3 Kgs 10 minutes after the bait settled down. Another 5 minutes and a second cast and i was into a good fight with an air borne rohu of around 7.5 Kgs.
We decided to stay put in the coracle and fight from the same spot, so as not to disturb the water.
Pictures done, it was Max's turn with a 4 Kg Rohu, man was he over the moon. I barely cast in a few minutes later was into a 1 Kg Kalibose.
All this in the first hour, leaving Max in the coracle and Jude on the bank quite dazed.

I do remember telling Max that good things don't last forever, and from 11am to 1pm we went fishless, and soon returned for some lunch.

The evening session saw Jude with me in the coracle and Max fishing from the bank. Jude was into a 3 Kg Rohu pretty soon, which broke his jinx with Rohu.

Next morning we made a late start, as we went off to inspect the falls from the Darga side, leaving Max kinda dizzy.

By 10 am we were at the head works all rearing to go, but could not fish till the guide came in, so we just sat there staring at the water.

Max had his eye on a piece of water, and snapped on a soft lure. As soon as we gave him the signal, he cast in and before you could say Jack he was into a nice fish which turned out to be a dark mahseer of around 5 Kg's. It put up a spirited fight just below the sluice gates, and the guide netted it after a couple of missed tries.

A few minutes later Max had another fish follow his lure almost upto his feet without taking it.

We decided to change locations to stone 68, where i took a one and a half Kg mahseer on ragi, and Max and Jude did a spin around the lake, taking a nice snakehead of around 2 Kg on a spinner.

The rest of the day was a blank, even though we went back to the small lake and fished hard and late.

Friday turned out to be a bummer, with not a single bite for Max and i, while Jude pulled in two murral around the 1 kg mark from Forbes.

I had a sneaky feeling that the fish were laughing at us.
The evening and next morning went much the same way, but all in all we were satisfied, having all caught something.

For pictures Max and Jude will have to do the honours, as i did not feel the need to carry 3 cameras on this trip.
Regards
Owen

Thanks Guys,
These pix are of half the fish caught, taken on Jude's camera. The rest are on Max's camera. I must say Max's camera takes some super pictures.

Owen

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the good wishes ...

Max's rig was awesome..

This 7Megapix camera with zeiss lens , some 10X digital zoom and 2GB memory.

Also a shimano tribal 5 pc travel rod that even the crows on the trees had an eye on... .Made with some bio grade composite.
Luminous frogs etc...

Well, it was a good learning going out with these two experts.

Jude

Hey Owen/Jude,

An absolutely delightful post. The first post from Bangalore that's ever made me slightly homesick. :D I'm glad to see you guys had a blast at Shiva. Looking forward to seeing and reading about you guys in action.

Regards,

Mighty Marlin.

Thanks MM,
Dare say you must be having some shitty weather around the Andaman islands these days, pretty much the same here too.

We would have fished from Hiara and had a decent chance at a mahseer, but changed directions as Max from Austria was very keen to fish with us.

Must say he is a good angler, and that Shimano Tribal travel carp rod he carries is fantastic.
Never thought i would say that about anything made by Shimano again, but there it is.
Regards
Owen
