Well guys i'm back from my trip to Uttaranchal.Spent two weeks in the most amazing places, covered almost 4000 km,encountered 7 rivers and am dog tired but happy as hell :-).
Fishing wise not too much luck but it was a pilgrimage to some great fishing locales!
The catch was an Indian trout at Beas Ghat and two small mahseer (estimated by the ghillie at 1.5 kg and 300-400 gm respectively) at Marchula.
I'm thankful to the great support i received on phone from Ali,Dhruv,Ken and Asif during my journey.

To do real justice to these spots i probably should have given 3-4 days to each and not the few hours i could manage but then thats always a good excuse to go back ;-)

Got to meet up with Asif at Delhi and was treated to some cold ones and a sumptuous meal at a gourmet joint called Ploof at Lodhi market..Really needed the dose of red meat after 12 days of mostly veg food and i really
tucked in! Thanks Asif!
Would like to share some of the pics from the trip with you guys.
So here goes!

aaarrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhh!!! you can't imagine how my fingers itch when i go to Renuka Lake or the ghats at Rishikesh... especially at Rishikesh... the mahseer there are besharam enough to 'bump' you expecting handouts... its quite a site to see a 20 pounder bump your legs for some free prasad!!!

i wonder if i can cast a line there and get away with it on grounds of insanity!!! :D :D :D

hey pal
some amazing pictures, looks like you had great time and given the small time you spend on each location it really great that you caught some fish. I am a hill freak too was in Delhi for almost ten years and seeing your pictures made me remember my own trips to the hills great going Pal. It must be feeling wonder full to have a holiday and catch some fish . Keep doing it nothing like great out door.

Saw some good Bhotiyas, not as many as i wanted though.
They were owned working dogs though not feral.

Ya!

June is good. The rains do start in July in UA. But I think the shepherds would have got high up to the bugyals (meadows) by then.

Ken, got some locals who are in contact with them. They said they reach the area I i intend to go to by the first of June.So I'm going to be in contact with him to keep me updated on their progress. He is the local butcher  so you can bet he keeps tabs on them LOL.

Yaj,
I hope the chef has recovered from the order of boiled eggs to go with the steaks  ...sure looked like it offended a lot of gourmet sensibilities! 8)

Thanks Santosh. Yes, when the sunlight hits the Ramganga at Marchula it turns a distinct shade of emerald! I'm already missing it

Hey mine was not exclusively a fishing trip so the route would not be ideal.PM your rough idea of places, duration etc so I can help you out with the specifics. One suggestion though ,give each spot at least 2-3 days.
Regards,
Yaj.

Great adventure and fabulous trip report. You know we walked almost the same trail this season. Whereas you went towards Marchula after Paonta Saheb , I went to Chandigarh and then to Ropar. Though I am just back from the extraordinary land, sort of pilgrimage to us anglers, the photographs of yours are again exhorting me to go back and once again feel the joy of blending with nature. Keep it up.

Ali.

I was there from 3rd to 7th of March but could not get the chance to wet the lines. The rivers look promising now.

Yes Vikram it is still there and they are still treated the same way.It was sickening. There was a jerk teasing the lions with a stick, he really got a piece of my mind and the joker beat a hasty retreat.
