Think you are the same guy I've spoken to about this on another forum.
Someone on here will correct me if I'm wrong but i don't think there is a lot of mahseer fishing to be had unless you head towards the Himalayas - or certainly not that I'm aware of.

You could try doing a search, I'm sure there must have been discussion on this in the past.
Good luck wherever you end up, if you want any info on tackle let me know, or I'm sure others on here who get to fish the area far more than me will be able to offer advice.
I've always lure fished when I've been in the north, Mepps spinners and shallow diving and jointed plugs have worked for me.

Since November is the right season, why not add some fish seed to it?

On another point, I believe Balswa lake is being prepared for angling and boating.

where is this Balswa lake ? & dear Sam even we where thinking to put some good fish seed but after knowing that the work of a flyover on the pond will gonna happen from Jan & the place will be filled with mud we dropped the idea...

East Delhi, never been there, read about it...... put the seeds anyway :-)

Is there no way of getting the government to stock the lake after they've finished building the flyover.
Not sure how things work over there, but in the UK if they were doing something like that then they'd have to repalnt trees etc once they'd finished and restock with fish if they'd done any damage.
Is there not a fisheries/wildlife minister that you can write to?

Post subject:

well, the ministers do have a wild life :-)

Apart from that, they do replant trees however, they never had any issue with ponds/lakes since all of them in/around Delhi are full of arsenic. I believe they have done something to improve the quality of this one and in 2004-2005 planning they had declared they wanted it to be a anglers "paradise", so I guess its about time, they did something or have done something. Someone has to check it out.

Might be worth someone contacting a Delhi newspaper to run a story on the water, especially if it looks like they could damage it when they build the new road. In the UK as soon as the papers get involved people are a lot more careful as they don't like bad publicity (i work for a weekly UK angling magazine myself).

PHG on it... will give report soon...

Hi Garry, as far as the papers here go, after writing about cricket, politics, cricket, murders & mayhem, cricket & a lil more politics have no columns left... to top it all off, the average Dilli wala could not care less about the Yamuna let alone a little lake in someones backyard...

Pretty much the same as the national press here then and the view of the general public with regards fishing, but when it comes to conservation people cause a lot of fuss, especially bird watching groups.
I can understand where you're coming from though, i know people involved in tiger conservation who have lots of problems even getting interest in that!
