Good day,

So after 8 months, 14200km, 19 countries, 28 punctures, around 40 fish much wind, snow and rain i arrived in Kathmandu by bicycle all the way from the uk. When i cycled out of my gate at home in England, to reach nepal and india seemed an impossible task. Now i'm sitting here in kathmandu i get the feeling to carry on cycling as it becomes a little addictive, much like fishing!

On saturday i will take the bus to varanasi where i will stay a few days before continuing down to mumbai by train. From mumbai i'll cycle down the konkan coast with a japanese guy who i met in tibet, to goa for serious christmas fishing.

In goa or hopefully before i'll update my blog and post photos as i have much to tell and share. The last 2 months through tibet have been the toughest time of the journey but the most rewarding. its been hard cycling on very bad roads at high altitude, cold nights of between -15-20 degress but the plus side is everywhere you look, there are truly stunning mountains.

i hope in the coming months some of you guys can answer some fishing related questions for me on forecoming trips around india. i'll be staying in goa for december and january, where i'll joined by ken L in january. if any of you guys are in the area for fishing it would be great to hear from you and maybe hook up for a fish or two!

Tightlines, scott

Hold on to your bike Scotty, probably loose it quicker than your money in India. Have a great time.

The only place that has a decent range of tackle(for Mumbai) is a place at Masjid Bunder called Haidery. He does price high but is the only guy who keeps the range of tackle used by amateur anglers. The rest of the shops mainly cater to the commercial fishermen and though you might find some things you need with them it will be a lot of legwork and heartburn ;-).
Will pass on his tel no and location to you.
Regards,
Yaj.

There are plenty shops around that area who sells fishing equipments in a radius of 100 sq meter. However yaj Haidery is a place where most of the Mumbai angler’s have sold their products which they have bought by mistake. You know what I mean.

Indiananglers shop is not bad give it a try Scott.

Well I've done the rounds there and have found that while the other shops keep some of the stuff you really have to search from shop to shop to get all your requirements. so if one has the time and the inclination to that its fine.
Due to his prices I tried to avoid buying from him but when I wanted jointed Rapalas recently after searching all over he was the only guy who had them. YMMV.
Yaj.

Hi everyone,

thanks very much for the quick replies to my question. very much appreciated!! We managed to find the haidery today and purchase all we needed for the ride down to goa. Things do seem to be cheaper down in goa but with the prospect of a few weeks of beaches ahead we of course spent too much money, as always tends to happen when i enter a fishing shop! my two friends now have rods and reels and some terminal tackle and are extremely enthusiastic about the coming weeks. its just been a fleeting visit to the city and we leave tomorrow. I will be back soon so yaj, i'll give you or santosh a call then.

i'll be back in on the forum in a few weeks hopefully posting a few fishing pictures fingers crossed!

Tightlines, Scott

Hi, Worldfisher,

Would you be Surf Casting on beaches in Goa? If you do, then please tell us about the results and hoping to have nice photographs of your catch.

Wishing you all the Best,

Be nice to them Scott. Let them have a practice in daylight before you take them out at night.
