hey friends
this is hozefa and this is my first post on fishing report.

Im in kuwait and i have been trying my hands on beach fishing for sometime now and most of the time im able to catch a small one (so small that i cant post it on the foroum)
every friday morning i go for fishing and here came friday morning 4:30 AM and my younger brother and me were all set going out for fishing. we left home by 5:00 AM and went to the nearest beach. When we reached there we realised that it was low tide and we got to know that fishes are no where near the beach

but then we stasted setting up the tackel and here we go....................
for the first few times there was no luck :(
i was wondering what is going to happen and i was thinking of going back but then suddenly my brother told me that he got something !!!!!!!!!!!!!
initially i was thinking that he is fooling around but then i saw fishing rod bending and tension on the line :D
i got up and took fishing rod in my hand............
in all this 6months of fihsing i never felt so much tension on the line.............
i tried to reel in the line but it wont move :? i tried again but it was stuck  ????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i started having other thoughts that its stuch in the rocks below but then suddenly i felt that line is going left and right :D
so i decided to let the line loose and here it goes it moved :D :D
i again started to reel in and it was again stuck :(
all this time i kept the tension on the string so that fish cant spit out the hook 8)
there was a tug of war going on for sometime and i knew that something is going to happen soon :? :?
and it did !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
here comes the line out of water but without a fish :? :(
the knot opens up and i loose my would be first catch :(

Even though everythiing lasted for few mins i felt i was fighting the fish for some good time :-) :D

The same thing happend twice that day and both the times knot opened up and i lost the fish..............
i was using palmor knot and and i guess it was not sufficient!!!!!!!!!!!!!

finally that day i was able to catch as usual the smaller one that i cant post
even though i was not able to catch anything but the feeling was so so great that i was able to move one step ahead......

but hopefullly i will post my first catch as soon as i get hold of one :-)

regards
hozefa.

Sounds like you hooked into a sting ray :-)

Use an improved half blood knot, never failed me so far.

Hozaifa, learn 2-3 knots, WELL, with confidence to tie it in the dark, by feel!
What is your rig-rod ,reel, line?
Whats your version of Palomar?it is a very strong knot and I'm surprised...
Suggest you make pre tied hook/shock leaders the night before and carry them to be attached and used.Do you use hardware like Duolocks?
If you are using mono, remember that it will open up if the 'tag' end is very short (atleast in the human body it does...)so tie a simple overhand 'safety' knot in the tag end, CLOSE to the MAIN knot, leave 2-3 mm and then cut it short.
Here's a stronger version of the palomar:

Hi Hozefa, The best bait for salt water fishing is bits of shrimps and squid on hook #8, 6, 4. (you'll get the max fishes on these sizes).

The home made bait dosen't work for saltwater mainly because of the constant current (high / low tide). The bait either dissolves in their hungry mouths or is nibbled very cleverly. Even the crabs can't resist it !

Twice i got a crab !

though the weather was not so good to do fishing..........
may be next week........
