It was a stormy sunday. Hot, humid but full of possibilities. IndianGypsy and I set off after lunch for the Pump House. 20km down the road we can to the level crossing and IG was all smiles as the gates were closed. It seems that everytime he is stopped at this railway crossing he catches fish, lots of them.

Three hours and a lot of beer later we reached the spot. Tackle was out fast. Worms were impaled. And lines were cast. And then the waiting began.

The Pump House in spate Image

30 mins my float bobbed gently and then vanished. I ran got the rod, reeled in the slack and struck. The fish felt big and pulled hard. But the beer in my belly had made me dull and I lost the fish.

30 mins later IG's bottom line starts twitching. Then there is a big... enormous tug which yanks the rod of the rest. IG jumps and grabs the rod before it can disappear forever. But loses the fish.

It was dark by now and we were planning to pack up. Just as we decided that it was time my rod dipped and the line screamed out for all of 2 seconds. A fish! I was ecstatic as I felt it pull. I began reeling in. That's when I got that sick feeling. I knew what it was.

ANOTHER DAM TURTLE!!!!

HOW DO I GET RID OF THIS JINX? Please any help. I have already sacrificed 2 tandoori chickens, an entire box of Black Partridges and countless lamb chops.

All help is welcome.

Ranny Mate!

Just what do you think Black Partridge is. It is the super strong beer of Haryana, locally known as Kala Teetar. One bottle and you'll be doing wheelies on a tractor.

At least you caught something live if not a fish, many is the time I reel in after effort broken branches of submerged shrubs. But the country and company makes it worth the while.

ok ok... here is the best pic of the lot...

Image

Me thinks we should put him to the final test- lets see if he can pull a turtle out of Bhakra or pong! If he can, then he deserves the crown!!!

(odds are he will pull it off...) official bets cans be placed with bops... current house odds 10 to 1 in favor of toitle ken!

Our karnataka version that makes you do wheelies is called Haywards 5000! Takes two days to recover from one session with this beer.

Haywards 5000 is for kids. We have Godfather 100,000. Yes I have got the 0s right!! And then there is Black Partridge, an endangered species.

Try one of these and you'll really get out there.

Make sure that the vessel you use to make that Soup looks nothing like the one in the clip I sent the boys or you would have a cream soup instead of a nice clear soup

Godfather is the worst ever beer I had tried in Kausani. Will never try again.

hahahaahahaah

Apoo! you are lucky you are still alive. They are spraying fields with it to get rid of rats and stuff.

You can smell the stuff when the bottle opens. A strange smell oozes out as the tops goes fizzzzzz!

Incidentally NASA astronauts recommend it highly (pun intended)

Fred,
The last time I saw a 'tur/toise' was a star, as an 8 year old...then I discovered sensei Ken- he does catch fish too, you know, but the turtle hook up rate is awesome 8) Thank God they're not the 400kg galapago variety... :P
