I'd be keen to hear how you get on. I am going to fish the West Ramganaga later in October with 2 pals. Never been before and boy am I looking forward to it.

Any tips on approach/tackle/bait/lures would be greatly approeciated.

thanks in advance.

Mark.

sorry about busting the bubble guys, but like Jeremy Wade once said... if tame fish are what you are looking for, then corbett is the place!!!

Don't get me wrong, its a beautiful place to go to if you have never been there, but as far as the fishing goes, I would not reccomend it... a keen angler once told me... "if you can't catch a fish at corbett, you can't catch a fish anywhere"!!!

Go have fun... its wild jungle...

Cheers,

IG

make a trip to one of the "resorts" there and you'll know what i mean... a member on this forum has pulled out fish from there using foam padding from inside his pillow!!! and no... the padding was not flavoured!!! just plain styro-foam!!

Foam form the pillow worked coz they were sleepy fish!! hahaahah

But on a serious note. The fish are 'tame' as in they hang around the feeding areas, places where gunny bags full of chicken guts, etc are dropped in regularly or where the resort kitchen throws in its garbage.

These fish refuse plugs, spoons or any other artificial. What you have to do is get them feeding by throwing in some roti, bread or meat scraps. Once they are eating you then throw in the same thing tied on to a hook and float it down with one more handful of the stuff.

My gillie/guide was carrying bread as bait. this was really effective but refused to stay on the hook for mare than a few meters. So I went back to the resort and came back with some foam. The gillie was not convinced that it would work but it did. We floated it down with the pieces of bread. It stayed on the hook. And fish hit it hard. My gillie now has patented this method.

Its a fact that the fish are tame in Corbett. I was told a few days back about the "feeding" done by the Resort. Infact, according to him, the fish nip at the toes for food.

AND

Yesterday I met an ex-angling "Tour" operator. Confirmed, they bait the fish at least 2 weeks continuously before an "Expedition"

where is the sport ?

where is the spirit ?

like feeding tigers dinner scraps and garbage - no respect here man - prison fish stall fed - rather fish in my aquarium !

Set the fish free ... give them the spirit back.

then the sport begins ...
