Himachal Angling Association is organising 2006 Trout Fishing Event at Banjar, Kullu, HP around September 9 & 10, 2006. The place is beautiful and I will be posting details & photos as soon I get them. Plus, a field report on the event and the status of Brown / Rainbow trout after the event. I have asked HAA to have a web presence as soon as possible and I will introduce all the anglers to the forum.
Himachal Angling Association, c/o Mr.KB Ralhan [Gen.Secretary], Palampur (HP). Phones:01894-232502, 94180-20620.

HP is fortunate enough to have minimal amout of bombing compared to other hill states across the country. The HP fisheries dept. does a decent job that it stays that way.

There is absolutely no dynamiting there... the reason a lot of people don't catch anything there is 2 fold:

1) Bad technique
2) Lure shy fish

the trout does happen to be a very very smart fish, and it can really have you at your wits end!!!

Will try and make it. But cannot confirm right now. What are the place close by where one can stay? Plan to bring the family along or I would have slept in the truck.

Cheers

Ken you can stay at Christopher Mitra's Himalayan Trout House at Village Nagni near Gushaini. You can try some trout angling near his place too. It is a very nice place to stay with your family. Food is also very good. If you want any more info about his place I will PM you. Actually Sohja is quite far away from Larji and Tirthan.

Gentlemen,
there is little or no dynamiting there . The throw nets start at 5 AM sharp and are there till 6 am . They just comb away. They are the ones that take the fish as also scare them.If they are stopped for about 10 days -you'll all get fish. If stopped forever - well there would be great no. of fish . I enjoyed my trip and am sure all u guys are going to bring out some lunkers. Cheers...Ham :D

Hey Indiangypsy,
I guess it’s the same place I had posted about earlier. I have seen big ones lurking in the clear waters, how I wish I was fishing then.

Regards
Tathagata

Mken,

If you are not interested in the meet then Christopher's place is a great place about 30 kms off the main road and the drive upstream is beautiful. If Largi is of interest then Kullu belt hotels are just 20-25 kms away from Aut. I am trying to get the phone number of C Mitra and will PM the same to you.

Dam and I had it all planned. Got to go release all the worms.

On a serious note. Is that a good time?

Hi Ashok

I have created this separate thread for Himachal Angling Association events. Please use only this thread in future for all HAA events instead of creating a new one everytime.
