Tackle in checked in luggage is not a problem.

You will not be allowed to carry any tackle in your hand luggage. If you are planning on buying a rod make sure it's a multi piece travel rod else you will have to put it in a PVC tube and check it in as an additional piece of baggage.

Just a little note. If you are getting split shot lead with you place it on top of all your stuff. It will positively show on any check and then you will have to open your bags. happened to me and it was a pain.

I bring tackle all the time and a lot too, as long as you check it in you will have no problem. This time I had Three roda, Three Reels, Baits, lures, split shots, bell sinkers, hooks and I had no problem.

I buy splitshots all the time for friends and myself. You seldom get questioned at Bangalore or any other airport, but please do not carry this stuff in your carryon it could be a disaster, not by them confisication your stuff but by being stopped at every security check point and loosing valuable time.
