Good luck Glenn.

My mom went to the hospital last week for the same operation. She is well and moving around everywhere. Only thing is that somebody has to give her the eye drops at short intervals.

Cheers,
Apoo

Hi Glenn. GWS . Lets give the fish take a break

Is this the clear, plastic intraocular lens (IOL) that they insert in ???

My Mom-in-law had one of those fixed last month.

She had this eye shade on for 2-3 days and was then up and about .

She's 72 !!! :o

Yeah, the eyedrops are reqd to keep the eye moist.

Jude

Thanks Bobbee, Neil, Fred,Jude,Riaz,Bops,Santosh,Inder,Axx,Manjur,Vedan,Gavin,Yaj,Bobby,Apoo,Saiki,Mahaseerhan And others, Your good wishes and get well messages are most heart warming and very thoughtful, and makes one feel part of a very loving extended family. Yes ,the operation went really well and my sight in the left eye is now fully restored and the result is amazing. I thank God that He made provision for the insertion of new plastic lenses when the old ones went kaput and He gave man/woman the expertise and the knowledge to carry out these simple though delicate operations. On the plus side I will not struggle again to tie a hook, swivel, etc!! On the minus side, I look into the mirror and I can now recognise a much older face looking back at me, wrinkles, warts and all! Better sneak some of the wife's anti-ageing cream eh?!! Not sure it will make a difference!
Next thursday I see the eye specialist who will let me know when the other eye will be done! And for those medicos who are interested, the op on each eye cost me $1600.00=3200.00! This is after gap payments by the insurance company! I could have gone on a trip to the Andamans and my beloved India for that sort of money!
Thanks again Gentlemen. It is so good to be thought of in a special way. May God bless each one and your families too.
Sincerely,
Glenn

Glen, you know you still could have mate, gone to India and got the operation done there. Did a some fishing there on the excuse of recouping.

I did the same thing for my Mom, flew her down to India, operated the Cataract, inserted the lenses etc, for Rs 8,000 each eye. It's been a couple of years now, operation was a total success.

Hi Bobby, Now you tell me mate! We live to learn in this wide world of ours! Yes I have heard of quite a few people who return to India on holidays to have various medical proceedures carried out for little more than the price of the holiday. Way to go I reckon. Next time perhaps!
Thanks for the info. I was hoping someone would pick that up and make comment.Very cheap indeed.
Cheers,
Glenn

Yep, It IS Owen's fault Bobby!! Not to worry. too late anyway! I would have come to India if my daughter was not expecting a baby in Feb as she was hoping we would help out with the other kids. This we did and it is now water under the bridge.
Hello Dr eljefe, I will come and see you the next time for sure. Thanks for the tips which is very much appreciated.
Cheers,
Glenn

Remeber the nights when we were about to hit the sack after a good days fishing and a lovely dinner and then..... "BANG" "BOOM" and sounds of elephants trumpeting.... Man !! Were we treated to a "FART Attack"  (eh Bobbee   )
