Gentlemen,

I am just wondering if anyone is prepared to produce a TV show serial on
angling in India along the lines of ,say, a Rex Hunt?

It would be of tremendous interest to all of us as well as newcomers
and help propel the sport into the mainstream.

So, what are your views?

That is a good idea, does anyone have an idea what it would cost to do a 45minute stint? This is the length I presume is what each episode should be.

Kenneth perhaps you could give us a guestimate?

My own thoughts are that most TV shows abroad tend to be 30 min. long
and cover new locations and techniques at each showing.

These shows are heavily sponsored and this is where I feel we in India may have some problems, as it may be difficult for local sponsors to visualise the extent of interest in an angling show and thereby in their products.

Can someone rope in say Rapala /Storm/Mepps? or is there an adventurous
soul in our MNCs who is willing to take the plunge?

Friends,

We have done 3 trolling shows in Tamil Channels already. Actually One of my friend in chennai performed this.

It was not so catchy.

So we are in the idea of creating videos whenever u go for fishing and compile them for 30min or so. This is still in dreams, we are yet to start the real work.

If you guys planning for anything, do share some inputs on how to go about.

Happy Fishing

salmonmani,

I admire your friend for making an effort to show fishing via the Tamil media, with an Indian production.

Sorry to learn that it was not too popular, perhaps it should be narrated in English and shown on channels outside the Tamil network?

Incidentally, as Bobby asked earlier, would it be possible to advise how much
the production cost?

Also, did anyone sponsor the venture to help offset some of the costs?

Regards,
Kingfish

Hi guys,

I am in advertising so I keep making commercials, AVs and other films for various media.

On an average you could estimate around 4 to 5 lacs a day as shooting costs. This would include cameras, a camera man, some lights, the tapes to record on and the sound equipment.

Then you have to add editing costs. To hazard a guess i would go with about 2.5 lacs to do one episode. This cost would include the editing studio, the sound studio and the professionals needed to do the job.

You also have to take into consideration that there will be travel cost for the shooting crew. This is something that depends upon where you want to shoot the film.

As for a 'hero/anchor' I offer my services absolutely free.

Mahaseerken,

We accept your offer to be the hero or the anchorman.

With your media connections, can you perhaps explore the possibility
of a sponsor(s) for this venture?

What would be a good topic to start with? Mahseer angling in the Himalayas?

Just wondering.

Getting back to the original question, what's the plan, is any one going to take this up?
