Hi guys,

I am in honkong - from 1st to 7th Nov 2010.

Though I am not sure if I'll get a chance to fish - unless the wife and kids get bored of the shopping, disney et al.

I sure don't want to miss on the opportunity to buy some decent gear for salt &/or fresh water. With my limited research off the net this is what I know of -
(i) you get good deals on reels, hooks, jigs, lures and lines
(ii) while triton tackle is the largest shop (in Wan Chi, if I haven't mis-spelt it) the best deals are available in Mong Kok (pl. forgive spellings)

Anybody can help? Locations addresses.... what to buy where etc.

Also does one need a permit to fish in HK? If so how does it work - through charters (then most likely I won't get to fish) as the family won't want to go out on a boat for a full day? Any contacts for charters (bargain / deals only please), b'coz if I do manage to "pataaw" the family I'll need to keep the costs low - I am already broke and I haven't even reached HK!

Would really appreciate if you can share your experiences / advice.

Thanks

Sorry mate, missed this one I just got back from Singapore last night. Try Troton (Wanchai branch now moved to Sheung Wan) for lures and terminal tackle, Po-Kee (also Sheung Wan on Hiller street, ask for Collin he is the owner, tell him you are a friend of Bruce (That is what they call me in Hong Kong)) for Reels and Rods.

Hong Kong does not have a good sellection of Tackle, the Lures are good.
