I'm crazy about barras and being an amature a littel bit keen on knowing a lot about barras . Looking for tips on barra fishing help requested on luer selection.

1: I observed the Nile Perch Looks very similar to a Barra. Are both from the same species. Or what ?

2: How big do barras grow . IF any one could please upload/share Pictures of their personal best, i would realy ejoy reading it.

3: I've seen on youtube Nile perch taken on rubber shads do Barras hit on rubber shads.Which kind?

Not sure.. looks same, so it may be a subspecies .

I have pic that is 30 kg plus.. not sure but was claimed to be 30 KG.. I have one more pic that is of 25 KG, and that is a true weight. My PB is 11 KG and i am sure that barra's do grow lot bigger than that (30 KG is possible) there was an old article of 100 kg + barra caught in Mumbai harbour in late 18th / early 19 th centaury

yes they do..

Go up river for the big ones..

Regards,

Santosh

They are different fish.

Barramundi = Lates Calarifer

Nile Perch = Lates Nilocotus

I find the easiest way to tell them appart is the eyes, barra have small eyes, Nile bearch have black beady eyes, Nile Perch also tend to be more dull grey.
