usually there should be no problem with few of them but you can not bring a truck load few days back a friend of mine brought four rods and same number of reels he was a Britisher though so may be that many are cool .I would agree with tats that the tackle is quite expensive in Uk but if one looks at some bargains in e bay you can really get a good deal cheers [smilie=coolup.gif]

If your friend is a UK resident it should not be a problem. Every time I come down to Bombay I bring along about 5 - 6 Rods, 5 - 6 Reels and around hundred lures of varying sizes. Of course I take this back with me but I have never been asked to declare it or anything like that.

I have also carried more than 2 Big Game trolling reels and Rods including 80lb and 130lb class without a problem. That is along with the above spinning tackle.

Baggage rules permit personal effects upto 25,000 rupees as exempt from customs duty.

IJAHTNAS, post the circular that your referring to over here asap. Misinformation will get you in trouble. I have warned you before as well.

Here are the duty rates below.

http://www.infodriveindia.com/Indian-Cu ... OTHER.aspx

Customs Basic Duty: 10
Addl Duty(CVD): 8
Spl Addl Duty(Spl.CVD): 4
Excise Cess 3
Customs Cess 3

Total 28% on Cost & Freight.

If any of you have paid less than this in the past then you are just plain lucky.

These rates above apply only to import by post or courier. For people returning from abroad, baggage rules apply. http://www.cbec.gov.in/customs/cs-act/f ... -rulef.htm
