Owen recently turned 50!

I guess one needs to prove one's self at that advanced age  and so he has challenged me to a run from Haira to Galibori camp - a distance of approximately 4 kms.

I thought it would be a good idea to use this opportunity to raise some money for WASI www.wasiindia.com and have a good laugh (or gasp, in Owen's case).

So here's how it will work - pick your runner and sponsor him for a certain amount per kilometer, subject to a minimum of Rs.25.00 per kilometer.

The run is slated for some time in November or December this year.

Once that is completed, send in your cheques, payabe to Wildlife Association of South India within a week or two at the most.

In the meanwhile, go ahead and post your favoured runner and the amount per kilometer you are willing to sponsor him for on this thread. (Hint: Owen needs all the encouragement he can get  )

Thanks chaps and here's hoping we can collect a goodly amount for a deserving cause.

Rustam

1) Gavin Ridge Cooke - Rs. 800.00
2) Bopanna Pattada - Rs. 400.00
3) Rustam Bana sponsors Owen's hospital charges to the tune of Rs. 1,000.00
4) Bobby B.: Rs. 1,000.00

Hi Rusty,

Let me know the exact date.. Am not going to spare any expenses to see this one.. Will be there in person to see this run.. And am sure you gonna find me on the ground laughing my guts out..

By the way, if you guys make it to the end (in one piece  ) then will contribute 100 buckeroos to WASI for the total kms you "athletes" have covered.

But if you guys dont make the gruelling 4kms, then the drinks are on you  and believe me I drink like a fish !!!

Sorry, Gavin but it's strictly BYO down south. Bloody spongers....

Let me know if I should put you down for a hundred minus the ifs and buts. Don't worry, we will complete the course even if I have to push Owen in a wheel chair.

Certainly your lordship but for how much and which athlete  are you sponsoring?

It's not a bet, unless someone wants to open a book on the side.

Please note that its 100 bucks per km per "athlete" from my side [smilie=cheeky-grin.gif]

That be : 100*2*4kms (if you guys make it  ) = Rs. 800/-

this will be in addition to the side bets that punters may place on the odds that have already provided in this thread.. All profits will go to WASI..

Rusty :

Mucho appreciated Bobby but is that Rs.100/- per KM, for one or both runners? Since you posted after Gavin's googly, I am not sure what you meant.

Guys and gais (I am soooo dead ), please specify the total amount, if nothing else.

Where's that megabass chappie....

Thanks.

Are they running in fishing clothes and carrying their gear?

Put me down for a couple of hundred bucks per K.
Can I pay in February, or do I have to send a cheque from UK?

How about another challenge when they run back again? Or perhaps they should get some serious training in and run to the river from Bangalore!

Oh, forgot to choose a runner to back.
Can someone give me a run down on their current form?
Either of them competing for India in the Olympics?

If I back Rusty at 4-1, 200rs per K and he wins, who pays up my 3200rs?

I'm being very English and going with the underdog;-)

I'll have to pay when I get to Bangalore, or the WASI will have to deal with a cheque in £s!

Donkey wont be able to take Rusty's weight so I guess that's the wheel-chair for him, (but I ain't pushing it !! ), and that would levae the donkey for Owen, (ride 'em Cowboy !! )

 I guess if (and that's a BIG if ) they have anymore energy after the race.. We can see another race, Owen on his DonkeyKong and Rusty on his Greased-Lightning Wheel Chair
