That's not Goonch!

Them are catfish, Wels or the other Yankee one called Bighead or something, I think.

As for the tackle. There are some great videos of them being caught by hand, noodling it is called.

Check it out on youtube.

They're European catfish (sometimes called Wells or Danubian catfish) - Silurus glanis.
There's a few of them in the UK but most are in southern and eastern Europe and west Asia.
To judge by the background, I'd guess that those fish came from Spain's river Ebro ("Rio Ebre" in spanish) where there are loads of guiding opperations cattering for anyone who wants to catch them.

Some good size catfish u will find in ANEKAL lake........But its not worth the trouble...as the lake is under Contract & the Locals are not very co-operative....had overheard some guys making Plans to Mug me  afer Riaz Bhai left ...was glad when Riaz Bhai waited for me.

The wels catfish is found in wide areas of central, southern, and eastern Europe, and near the Baltic and Caspian Seas.
These can possibly grow to the total length up to 3 m (ten feet) and a maximum weight of over 150 kg (330 lb)
