Hi eljefe,

That'sa great gesture. However I would have loved to have a ready reckoner in my kit bag that tells you how to treat a snake bite when out in the wilderness away from medical help.

Doctor,

I am a country boy  and I wasn't so very scared of snakes .

But after reading your "snake bite treatment guide" ......now I know why they say -" Ignorance is bliss"

Hi Eljefe, this is an excellent offer. I had an awful experience while fishing with a friend in the jungle. We stopped for a bite and this guy sat on top of a snake which promptly bit him on the butt. It was a good job I had a mobile with me and immediately rang the Flying Dr. He told me to make the patient comfortable, take a sharp knife and make two incisions across the fang punctures and suck the poison out of his butt or he would die. "what did the Dr. say" my friend screamed out. In a serious voice I said to him. "You are going to die"

Doc,
Does the 'sucking the poison' really work? Guess there are suction pumps available in the market, not sure if they work though.

Henry,
What bit your friend?

Any Snake bites in the vicinity of Pune rush to Sassoon Hospital,Bites from Cobras are easily manageable but when it comes to vipers there is a lot of complications.Avoid vegetation patches near beaches bound to hold snakes for some reason.Anglers fishing around the malvan coast watch out for Saw Scaled Viper(Echis Carinatus) quite common in that area.
For info Only
the maximum lethal dose of venom from these snakes for man is:
Cobra=12mgm,Russel Viper=15mgm,Krait=6mgm,Echis =8mgm

Hi Guys!

I think this only works in Hindi movies.

My advise is that everybody reads up a bit and makes sure the victim gets to a hospital fast.

Henry Bhau,
Like the joke about the mexican help who called his boss to tell him about the fire, the curtains, the house destruction, the death of his wife-Boss-how did she die?
Juan- She came in late and I hit her over the head with your brand new superfandangled golf driver, mistaking her to be a thief.
Boss- Juan, if that driver has even a scratch on it, you're fired!

So I guess your friend died?? ;) :)
Hi Neil, long time , all fine? Yup, thanks for the stats and echis carinatus , for its size causes more fatalities on the west coast than any other snake.
NO!!! DO NOT CUT a snake bite.
Fred -Hope you got the courier?
Any one out of the list, please PM me and I'll send one across.
Yaj-one couriered
Best, stay safe
Axx
