Hi all today I went along with four of my friends Pritheev, Mani, Harish and Shiva from Chennai Harbour. The wind was little strong coming out from land onto the sea. We trolled and almost gave up and while returning back half way, one of the reels screamed and i took control and landed this beautiful Mahi Mahi. First time catching this beauty and what a fight it gave. Two weeks ago i also caught a small GT (around 5 kgs) and we released it.

Congrats Rob.

Amazing colors on that fish. They put up a good off water display when hooked.

Ravi, Prithiv told me that this fish normally strikes its prey on the head first. presume it got hooked while smashing the prey on its head.

Lucky strike. Congrats.
You released a fish with a headache :D
Is that a popper you were trolling with?

Hi Robert, Nice Mahi Mahi, you're lucky you landed it considering where you hooked it. They tend to get acrobatic when they fight.

Regards,
Mighty Marlin.

MM, do they get acrobatic?
The fishy in your profile photo looks to be hooked in the wrong (or rather right) place. Did they become acrobatic?

Hi Ravi, They tend to get acrobatic in a not so nice way if you use hooks... barbless or not.
I'd recommend you use something gold/silver, with a bit of bling...same size as a Mepps 1, 2 or 3.... work quite well. Just remember no hooks!

Tight Lines,
Mighty Marlin.

Missed this one, good fish. Like MM said these fish really take to the air. Good on you landing it, all things considered.
