Hi All,
Few of my friends from Chennai invited me for the sea fishing for a very long time and this month I had a opportunity to visit them.
On 26 th Jan we had planned to go into the sea targeting GT's and other species , but unfortunately no fishing boats were allowed due to Republic day parade at Marina.
On 27 th we had planned an early morning trip to the ship wreck targeting GT'S. By 6.00 am we had started and by 6.45 we had reached the ship wreck. Popping done for 45 minutes and no strike . Also the tides were high and can't stand on the boat and do the popping.
My friend Chacko had advised us that there is no GT''s action and its waste of time. So we will go for trolling and took the different route.
After some time Chacko got a strike and the reel were screaming.
We thought it was a GT around 5-8 kgs and we were fighting. He given me the opportunity to reel in for sometime and its my 1 st experience . I really enjoyed it to certain level as I am a left hander and the handle was fixed on the right hand side.
After 15 minutes of the strike , the fish was close by and another friend of mine Abhi took the gaff to land the fish .Our boatman was shouting that its a big king fish and finally we landed this beauty in to our boat.
Big Congrates to Chacko & Abhi and my maiden sea trip was thrilling and memorable one. Hope to land one myself next time and hope this year started with success.
The fish weighed 18 kgs after cleaning. Do not have a chance to weigh full fish .
The lure was Halco laser pro 190 Red head DD. The rod was rapala popping rod and the reel Spheros 18000 FB, line Berkley braid 100 lb
happy fishing
