Hi Clive,

I too caught a decent Mahseer after ages. Some feedback.

1.Beat no.1 is best avoided.
2.Beat no.2 is currently closed due to some dispute.
3.Concentrate on Beat No.3 & 4. Currently they charge Rs.1900 for the license and the guide is extra.
4.Spoons and Spinners do not seem to work. Try Rapala Jointed Minnow in Gold/Brown Trout.

Please do not forget to break the barbs on the trebles and handle the fish carefully and release it quick.

Photos should not be a priority here.

What a lovely fish you have there Mr. Ashok.

Glad to know most of these game fish are released. Thank you very much indeed for sharing the pics. The place looks stunning. I am sure you must have have a good time there in harmony with nature :)

ashokpl,

Lovely pictures and fish, been there but only caught small mahseer,
However, saw several wild pigs swimming the Ramganga, lovely sight.

Is that a J11 or a different size?

Regards,
Kingfish

A looker mate. What a lovely fish. Congratulations.

Hopefully I will try beat 4 in near future. Heard a lot about it. Avoiding elephants will be a tricky one though.

Regards,

Ali.

Thanks a lot, all of you. The lure was a J-11 in Golden colour. The place was beautiful and fish was great! Also, it hooked very safely - only only hook in the treble so releasing was a breeze! Swam very strongly after being released.

Ashok.

On beat number 4 the forest guide adviced that I could get a license directly from the Field Directors Office in Ramnagar during the "Open Season" (Nov 16 - June 15). The staff there would have the details.

Yes, i dream fishing the Kali. But most of the times enough spare time is not available. Also, marchula has some good resorts like the Corbett Ramganaga Resort where I stayed.
