With the excruciating heat in Hyderabad, decided to head for Bangalore to spend the week end at Galibore Fishing Camp, with my wife, though its off season for fishing for Mahaseer still I thought it fit to try luck, reached Galibore from Bangalore after a 3 hrs drive, headed straight to the banks of the mighty Cauvery for a quick spinning [Mepps Aglia] for Murrel, no luck, evening headed for Crocodile Rock in a coracle for Mahaseer fishing, kept on casting using ragi balls till dusk no strikes, just a few nibbles,my gilli Renuka was always positive and kept on reassuring" Sab lagega zaroor, last week guys have caught a 18 lbs". Returned to camp and again started casting from the edge where the camp exists, got a massive strike just after a few casts and could land a reasonably big Mahaseer, after a few casts landed another this time a smaller one (approx 2 lbs),time 8.30 pm day one.....
Day two started casting again very early in the morning and landed 7 fishes all below 2 lbs ( on a light tackle)... most of them were hooked by my wife!!!over all it was great fun, the place is perfect nestled amidst dense forests, where you can watch wild animals like deer/ bisons...a diverse speciess of birds and not the least Crocks leisurely relaxing on the banks of the river....
The point I wish to make here is season or no season you can always fish at Cauvery..if luck is with you, who knows you can well be landing a trophy size Mahaseer. [ WELL THE EXCITEMENT WAS NO LESS LANDING SMALLER SIZE MAHASEER, BY GEORGE, EVEN A KG MINNOW GIVES A FIGHT, WHICH IS MUCH BEYOND VALUE FOR MONEY SPEND].
