Dear All,

Took a short trip to Bhakra yesterday. Water level was low and muddy/green.

Started trolling with deep divers, and by noon the game started with a Mahseer slightly under 1 kg. Gave a jarring tug and a scream of the reel. In the next 3.1/2 hours got 3 more each weighing about 2.5 kg. I didn't have a weighing scale so its a guess. Left the place by 4.30 pm as I had a long drive back to Delhi. In all, an Exhilarating experience.

I was at Bhakra today from 0900 - 1230 hrs but it was a blank day for me.I crossed the dam wall, went down to the reservoir from the path in front of "Bhakraview Dhaba". I suspect one of the reasons is that I do not have plugs which dive deep. My plugs/minnow went 2-3 feet deep only. I understand that I need plugs /minnows that go down 6 - 10 feet?

Luhr-Jenson spinners in black/gold & gold and spoons in gold & silver also gave no response.

This is the fist time I cast & trolled in a lake created by a dam. The Mahseer were being caught by locals in 500 gms - 1.5 kgs range on "atta" (wheat flour bait).

All small Mahseer are being killed (less than 1 kgs). Fisheries department has much to do here if the average size has to go up from the current 0.5- 1.5 kgs to alteast 2.0 - 5.0 kgs.

Dear All,

Had a bug in my belly the day i was in Bhakra, thus the limited narration.

Thanks guys, "this is it" when it comes to Mahseer in Bhakra for the whole year.

Deep divers are the answer. Rest, Dr. Ken (Specialty - Mahseer @ Bharka ), who should be returning shortly from Bhakra who will give his valuble inputs.

Ashok from what I understand got to run your plugs a lot deeper.

Cheers!
