As the winters have finally taken full swing in Pakistan and particularly in the northern part, it spells the slowing down or end of angling. The only chance is the occasional good trip at the rivers if the water level is rite or if the thekedar lets you have a chance.

Common carp season is starting to peak with the falling mercury. All the sought after game fish are sparingly caught.

Was just wondering what about the Mahasheer season in India? What about the Mahasheer of the north. Do they bite in the winters? Do you catch any and if yes in what conditions? What lures or technique is best suited.

In our part of the world Mahasheer are not even given a try in winters! Would appreciate any info provided.

You can land a mahseer in winter too. there is no hard and fast rule. The best time to try in winter is when the sun is up and shining brightly. Try pools insted of rapids.

Give it a try and you may get lucky.

Regards,

Ali.

Yes true as long as they are hungry they go for any thing that seems/smell like natural food. Just take care that you mimic injured fish action while playing with Spoon.

Example the place I go for Mahaseer hunting on River bed there are many silver gold threaded cloth peice which we Hindu release after pooja or worship in the river. Mighty Mahaseer still go for the Silver color but only when you resemble your action like injured or live fish.

good luck.
