When a masheer can crush triple hooks and spoons , a soft bait if effective will be a one time affair, a murrel with its teeth will gnaw the soft bait.

Personally I think soft baits are great. They work out to be pretty expensive because they get destroyed by even little mahseer. But then i would rather have a beaten up bait than a pretty one that catches no fish.

What i have seen is that the work best when fished very erratically. don't get a pattern going and the fish will surely strike. Once i stopped a retrieve mid way to undo a small line knot and by the time I started again the lure had settled on the bottom. I think the fish was watching the lure as it 'hid' amongst the rock and as soon as it tried to escape it hit it.

The only disadvantage is the single hook. this year i am going to experiment with an additional flying hook.
