Hi folks,

I noticed that there has been a bit of correspondence on this board regarding the Jeremy Wade Jungle Hooks series.

For that reason (and please note that I am in absolutely no way connected to the sellers or the auction house) perhaps these links may be of interest to you:

http://www.mullocksauctions.co.uk/Catalogue_Show_Item.php?ID=6488
http://www.mullocksauctions.co.uk/Catalogue_Show_Item.php?ID=6524

They looks similar to the one that is used in the series.

Regards,

Will

A venerable bit of old kit - and similar reels are still sold and used in Australia.

BTW, You don't have anything to do with the KDAA do you Will ?

Hi Ken,

No - I was a member years ago (1980's) but haven't fished their waters for years - why do you ask?

Reel relic Will.
Old brass reels that were used for mahseer fishing in the days of the raj are still made and sold in Kolkata for a song. From 1" to 4" . Different in design to this reel that you have posted, but regularly used by anglers in the east to catch catla attached to a bamboo rod.

My dad was talking to one of their balifs last year and it turns out that he's a mahseer nut as well. I've not had chance to talk to the guy myself yet (I've barely fished the Severn as a result of this years floods) but when I saw your location, I thought you just might be the very same chap.
