I was watching a wonderful documentary on the BBC about the upper Ganges last night (Yes, I did record it) and it showed the clear water, the northern mahseer and the otters chasing chilwa through crystal clear water. It also showed the effects of the spring melt and the monsoonal rains when the water turns into a milky torrent.
There are another couple of episodes to come but I'm feeling an urge already.

When's the best time of year to fish the upper river in the Rishikesh area ?
Would conditions be good in Late march or early April ?

Bops, it's just called "Ganges". They're keeping things simple at the BBC these days.
I set up my PC to record it so if it's done what I asked it to (I can't check this week 'cause I'm house sitting for someone) I'll burn you a copy to DVD and drop it in the post - purely so that you can decide whether you want to purchace the comercial DVD when it is published of course.....

Hey Ken

I'll find the program here, don't bother with sending it by post. From what I hear Royal Mail is still on strike....
